The Association of People with Disability (APD), Bangalore

The Association of People with Disabilities (APD) is a Bangalore based organisation dedicated to enabling persons with disabilities to lead independent, dignified, and fulfilling lives. With a rights based and inclusive approach, APD works across education, healthcare, livelihoods, assistive technology, and community based rehabilitation, supporting individuals across urban and rural Karnataka. Through early intervention, skill development, and advocacy, APD focuses on removing barriers and creating opportunities for full participation in society.

I spent time documenting APD’s work across its campus and outreach programmes, where children, youth, adults with disabilities, families, therapists, educators, and community workers come together in classrooms, therapy sessions, workshops, and everyday moments of learning and care. The photographs reflect lived experiences, collaboration, and resilience, highlighting APD’s holistic approach to inclusion, empowerment, and long-term social change.
